MY FRIENDS FROM PHILIPPINE IN MIZUHO

The City of Davao (Tagalog: Lungsod ng Dabaw; Cebuano: Dakbayan sa Dabaw) is one of the most important cities in the Philippines and the chief city of the island of Mindanao. It is the largest city in the Philippines in terms of land area, occupying an area of 2,444 square kilometers. Its international airport and seaport are among the busiest cargo hubs in the southern Philippines. Davao City is also one of several cities in the Philippines that are independent of any province, though it is usually grouped with Davao del Sur for statistical purposes. The city is also the regional center for Davao Region (Region XI). Davao City has a population of 1,147,116 people in 240,057 households, according to the 2000 census. It has about 2 million people in daylight hours. In recent years, the sprawling urban metropolis has emerged as the business, investment and tourism hub for southern Philippines. The city boasts of some of the finest beaches and mountain resorts in the country, and proximity to the Philippines’ most captivating diving spots as well as its highest peak, Mount Apo.

Mount Apo is a large stratovolcano on the island of Mindanao in the Philippines. It is the highest mountainin the country and overlooks Davao City, a few kilometres to the northeast. Its name means "master" or "grandfather". Apo is flattopped, with three peaks, and is capped by a 500 m wide volcanic crater containing a smalcrater lake. It is a source of geothermal energy, but the date of its most recent eruption is unknown, and none are verified in historic times.Mount Apo is one of the most popular climbing destinations in the Philippines, and the summit is easy to reach. It was first climbed on October 10, 1880 by a party led by Don Joaquin Rajal.

Pearl Farm The 11-hectare Pearl Farm Resort was once, literally, a pearl farm, where thousands of white-lipped oysters, transported from the Sulu Sea, were cultivated for their pink, white, and gold pearls. The resort lies in a secluded island off the coast of Davao City. It boasts Samal Houses patterned after the stilt houses of seafaring Samaltribes of the Sulu archipelago, with schools of tiny fish frolicking between the sturdy poles that support the houses.

Eden Nature Park is nestled at the foot of Mt. Talomo. At 2,650 feet above sea level, the resort offers one of the best views of Davao City and the Davao gulf. It used to be an over-logged area in the '70s until the Ayalas planted pine trees all over the place, making the resort 95% man-made. Today, the place provides a relaxing alternative to the bustling city life with its cool weather and unpolluted air.

Eden Nature Park's amenities include the amphitheater, the flower garden, hiking trails, mountain ponds, jogging lane, organic vegetable and herb garden, prayer garden, swimming pool, fishing village, campsite & camp huts, horseback riding, playgrounds, vista kiosk, seminar village and family cottages.

Crocodile Park Probably the country’s richest in terms of biological diversity, Davao is now also known to be the habitat of crocodiles. In Ma-a, within the city of Davao, lies the Crocodile Park, the habitat for grisly crocodiles, including the country’s largest crocodile, named “Pangil.” Aside from crocodiles of varying ages and sizes, the park also houses various breeds of birds, from the Philippine sea eagle to kakatoe and Indonesian parrots – truly a sight to behold.
